Dear
Future Friends,
My name is Virginia
.... and about 5 years ago my son was told
to look for a place that could care for me.
I was no longer able to look out for myself.
When the nursing home discharged me, my son
drove me directly to The Pavilion. He brought
his friend with him in case he needed help.
The nurse gave me a tour of the building
and showed me my room. I was no youngster,
but most of the residents were older.
The
first pleasant surprise that came to me that evening was
that they gave me a choice of supper. I was sure I was
going to go hungry, but I was told that every meal was
"either or". If this does not satisfy the resident, they
have a few different sandwiches.
I
was still looking for reasons to run home, (I never would
have made it) when my room mate told me that if I didn't
come to an activity with her, she was going home. It really
doesn't make any difference which one we went to, but I
must have enjoyed it because we went again in the afternoon.
We
have a Recreation Director and she guides us through many
types of activities. She sets up a schedule for each day.
Some of the activities are Bingo, Music, Parties and Shopping
etc. We also have a Beauty Parlor on the premises.
We have separate services for the three different religons:
Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish.
The
Pavilion provides rides to almost all medical services,
to the Catholic Church on Sunday and to Wal-Mart every
week.
As
you can see I never did find a reason to run home and I
am glad I didn't. If you are thinking of enjoying The Pavilion,
pay us a visit. Ask if you can speak to one of the residents..
Remember, we were in your shoes once.
Sincerely Yours,
Virginia......
